Ideas for a project to explore the interaction of climate and biodiversity? From 11 February to 30 March 2025, applications can be submitted for projects on climate and biodiversity for up to €15,000. This comes from the Climate and Biodiversity programme of Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Universities (LDE).
These are projects involving multidisciplinary collaboration between researchers from at least two of the three LDE universities. The main applicant is working at either Leiden University, TU Delft or Erasmus University Rotterdam.
Annelot Broerze, researcher at TU Delft's Faculty of Civil Engineering, coordinates the Climate and Biodiversity programme. Broerze: ‘Because this is a programme of the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Universities cooperation, it is important that applications make clear that there is cooperation from different disciplines. For example, ecologists with engineers and economists. It's even better if there's also a party from outside the university involved in the content of the projects.'
A total of 4 projects can be honored this spring, each for 15,000 euros. The assessment will take place in April so that the projects can start in May 2025.
Broerze: ‘With this grant, we aim to stimulate small projects at the intersection of climate and biodiversity. From the programme, we established last year that we focus on practice-oriented research and education at an outdoor location, such as at Living Labs. Examples are Green Village Delft, Polderlab, Buurtlab070, and Flood Proof Holland.'
