Network Climate and Biodiversity

Scientists from Leiden University, TU Delft and Erasmus University Rotterdam have joined together in a new network around Climate and Biodiversity, where the interaction between the two themes will be highlighted. Over the past year, our network is expanding within but also outside of the universities, throughout the Netherlands. Do you want to become part it?

Why join our network?

  • You will stay up to date on relevant events, grants, our Seed Funds (coming in 2025), and project updates from our network through a regular news e-mail.
  • You will be invited to our activities and have access to our transdisciplinary network from our growing network of +50 participants.
  • You have a point of contact to put all your questions related to biodiversity-climate, if you are a knowledge partner, government agency, citizen, entrepreneur, researcher, student, or anyone else.
  • You can share your or use other (organizations) knowledge for a guest lecture, for verification of knowledge or become a knowledge partner for our LDE Interdisciplinary Thesis Labs, for example:  Thesis Lab 24/25 "The (really) Green Heart 2100"
  • You have a place to put and discuss your bold research questions or ideas, or find collaborators when there is an interdisciplinary call affiliated to biodiversity-climate nexus.

Through our activities, we are expanding our network of knowledge partners so that we can increasingly fulfill the role of knowledge director.  Also, we work in close collaboration with LDE Centre for Sustainability.

Events for our network in 2024

  • White paper presentation at Naturalis in Leiden in May on the International Day of Biodiversity (see Whitepaper)
  • A kick-off meeting in November at the Green Village in Delft to get to know fellow network participants, gain insights on projects related to climate and biodiversity, and a Lorentz Workshop to feed the long-term strategy of the LDE Climate and Biodiversity program in November (see article here)
  • A collaboration with TU Delft Climate Action Programme in December for a lunch lecture on Climate and Biodiversity nexus with Dr. Nico Tillie (Head of the Urban Ecology Lab ) and Bob Kreiken (PhD Researcher Biodiversity Data & Equity at TPM Faculty)

More to come in 2025...!

Would you like to participate in this network from one of the three LDE universities or be affiliated with it from another organization? We would be happy to welcome you.
