Mind of the Universe is a series of portaits of worldwide leading scientists broadcasted summer 2017 by the VPRO. This populair series gets a follow-up in an online learning programme: Mind of the Universe Online Learning Experience, developed and executed by scientists and learning developers of the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus universities. The online programme includes three online learning tracks, which are open for registration and first started 30 April. The tracks will be covering current ‘hot’ topics such as the importance of genetic privacy, the use of robots in society as well as questions about scientific progress. www.vpro.nl/mindlearning
In the three online learning tracks, participants are encouraged to think critically about ethical questions such as:
- Should all our genetic information be made public in order to eradicate genetic diseases from this world?
- How can robots be used in society so they can actually be beneficial to us?
Learners then have the opportunity to develop these answers into a creative assignment: a video, podcast or infographic, for example. The aim of these learning tracks is to help participants look beyond their own echo chamber of ideas and together find answers to some of society’s most complex and urgent questions.
